Conditions Treated by Our Veterinarian

When your pet is sick, injured, or suffering from a chronic condition, you need help and you need it now. That's when Dr. Ranote and our team at Westgate Animal Hospital Maple Ridge can help. We treat a range of conditions, with compassion and quality veterinary medicine. Throughout the process, we provide education to help you do the best for your pets. These are some of the health conditions that we can treat at our animal hospital.

Skin Conditions

Your pet's skin can develop a rash from an allergy. Perhaps he or she came in contact with a fungus that caused ringworm. Some infectious diseases including skin conditions are zoonotic, meaning they can be transmitted from your pet to you or other members of your household.  Fortunately, through evaluating the skin thoroughly and some testing, veterinarians can accurately diagnose skin conditions and provide the appropriate treatment to relieve symptoms.

Infections

As noted, we can treat skin infections, but our veterinarian can also treat leptospirosis, streptococcus, Lyme disease, and other similar bacterial infections. On the other hand, veterinarians can also treat certain types of viral infections. Sometimes, though, the best care for these issues is for you to take your pet home, monitor the symptoms, and provide comfort measures until your pet can recover.

Broken Bones and Musculoskeletal Injuries

Unfortunately, pets often sustain injuries and they can't tell us where it hurts. At our animal hospital, we can determine if your pet has an injury and the extent of it through a comprehensive evaluation. Sometimes, that care will include digital x-rays reviewed and interpreted by board certified radiologists to see the internal structure of your pet.

Chronic Conditions

Veterinarians can also treat chronic conditions. Any time you're noticing symptoms in your pet that don't seem normal, bring him or her in. We will determine the problem and its severity. Then, we can provide you with medication and possibly lifestyle advice to help you better manage it.

With chronic conditions, we may need to continuously monitor your pet. We may recommend yearly visits, or sometimes more frequent visits depending on your pet's condition. At these appointments, we can adjust your pet's treatment accordingly. Some examples of chronic conditions we treat include diabetes, kidney disease, heart disease, and more.
